These terms cover your use of the CalAround iOS app and this website. By using either, you agree to them. If you don’t, don’t use them.
CalAround is made by Brad Bice, an individual developer.
What CalAround is
An iOS app that reads calendar events from a photograph you take and writes them to a calendar it creates on your device. It is a convenience tool for getting information you already have into a form your phone can use.
It is not a system of record. Your employer’s calendar remains the authority on your work schedule. CalAround’s copy is a copy.
Your responsibilities
Photographing your work calendar is your call, not ours. Your employer may have policies about photographing company screens, or about where company information may be stored or sent. We can’t know them and don’t enforce them. Making sure your use of CalAround is permitted where you work is entirely your responsibility.
You also agree to:
- Use the app only for calendars you are entitled to see.
- Supply your own Anthropic API key if you use the Claude reader, and comply with Anthropic’s terms for that use. Any charges Anthropic bills to your account are between you and them.
- Not attempt to use the app to access, alter, or delete calendar data belonging to anyone else.
Accuracy, and what that means for you
Reading text from a photograph is inherently uncertain. CalAround marks what it is unsure of and requires you to approve every change before it is written — that review step exists precisely because the reading can be wrong.
Check the diff before you sync. Once you approve a change, you have accepted it. A meeting read at the wrong time, a meeting missed entirely, or a meeting removed because it wasn’t visible in your photo are all possible outcomes, and the review screen is where you catch them.
Do not rely on CalAround as your only record of a commitment that matters.
No warranty
CalAround is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. There is no guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any scan will be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, missed appointments, or lost business arising from your use of — or inability to use — CalAround.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the app in the preceding twelve months, or five US dollars.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Third-party services
If you use the Claude reader, images are sent to Anthropic under your own API account. Anthropic is an independent third party; their terms and privacy policy govern that processing, and we are not responsible for their services.
Privacy
What the app touches, stores, and sends is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Apple
CalAround is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Changes
These terms may change as the app does. The date at the top will move, and continuing to use CalAround after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
